Which is more important? Time or money? They both are. But the comparison begs the question, which is in your control and which is not. The crazy thing is if you have a lot of money, or if you don’t have enough, you could argue the point that money is the winner because it’s such a huge focus and is so critical to survival in this world. It always has been and it always will be unless a different system is developed, a system no one has yet created.
But in terms of which is most precious, it has to be time. Though we are taught not to worry about what is out of our control and only focus only on what is to be successful, this one piece of our existence cannot be ignored, because it comes down to how you “spend” your time, more than how you spend your money.
Here’s someone to back me up:
You can always get more money, but you can’t get more time. When you spend a day doing something, you have one less day to spend in another way. You can’t exactly “earn” that day back later. This means that you always need to spend your time wisely and get the best value for your time that you can. When you take the time to learn, (especially to read), you are investing in you and your future. The reason for this is that one good idea can effectively change your entire life. Stop and think about that for a moment. One good idea can transform your whole future, ranging from your health to your finances to your relationships.”
The excerpt above is from My Philosophy for Successful Living, by Jim Rohn. I’ve pulled excerpts from this book for a few recent blogs because what he speaks about is so powerful to living…and to success in life. I guess he doesn’t so much back up my thought process in this blog, it’s more that this is what I have learned from reading his thoughts and philosophy, as I try to do with everything I read.
The bottom line is I spent money on the book, but that didn’t give me the great ideas or insight into life, it’s the time I spent reading the book that can change my life.
That’s time well spent.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time, 🙂
