Chances: It’s Just About… USHEALTH Advisors (Push Week)

June 8, 2015 By markbrodinsky 2 Comments

To my brothers and sisters at USHEALTH Advisors,

For those who don’t know me, (and it’s many of you), this is my blog. It’s called It’s Just About… Life & The Sunday Series, where weekly I share lessons on personal growth and self-improvement and each Sunday pour my life into someone else and share their story, one of courage, hope or inspiration.

Today however, for one day, I am turning my attention to you, to help inspire and push you toward greatness. We are almost half-way home on this push week and the time is now to push, to set your sights higher, to take that deep breath for a second wind which will blow you up and over the mountain, to prove you can do more than you ever thought and be more than you ever thought you could be… and most importantly to help more people than ever before and define our own message of HOPE.

I’ve only been here for one month, but this is my second coming, as an agent and a Field Sales Leader. I worked with Troy McQuagge and many in the leadership of USHEALTH Group before, back in the first decade of this 21st century. I produced more than $6 million in individual health insurance and supplemental sales and here I am again. This time it is with the realization that the more things change, the more they stay the same. And this week the focus is on saying thanks…to Troy and all our leaders at USHEALTH for this tremendous opportunity.

Troy and company are giving us all a chance, a chance to provide HOPE, Helping Other People Everyday with insurance solutions they desire, they need, which make a difference and like Apple, show the status-quo that to think different, to have a unique vision and a definite purpose you can change lives. Change the lives of your clients and in turn, change your own. Follow your passion, define a higher purpose and change will happen and wealth will follow. Chase the passion, not the dollar and watch riches ensue.

You’ve been set up to succeed, the opportunity is yours now to go after your chances.

For inspiration, consider some of the lyrics of the song, Chances, from the group Five for Fighting.  I’ve included some of the lyrics here and at then end you can put it all together by clicking on the link to the YouTube video and then go out and have a week like none you have ever had before…

Chances are when it’s said and done, who’ll be the lucky ones, who make it all the way?

So who will that be?  It will be somebody, somebody will do more, be more, help more people than anyone else in the country. Some team will rise above the rest and show us all how it’s done. Why can’t that be you? Why can’t that team be yours? Why can’t more people benefit,  from what you have to offer than you ever imagined could in a single week?

Chances are we’ll find a new equation, chances roll away from me..

And they will roll away, unless you grab them, seize them, unless you take advantage of the opportunity right in front of you to provide the people you meet with innovative solutions. You know how to do that? You pick up the phone, you make a call, you talk to a prospect, you have a conversation, you walk-and-talk and sit-and-listen and come up with a way to help someone else find the answer only you can provide. These are your chances.

Chances are more than expectations, they’re possibilities…

Believing in a chance to provide HOPE opens up infinite possibilities. Yet it’s only a chance, your chance. A chance to do more than you ever expected from yourself. It is making forward progress, even when you feel like forces are pushing you back, telling you it can’t be done, that you can’ t do more than you have ever done before. If you think you can, or you think you can’t you are right. So what is your possibility? You don’t know unless you take the chance.

Eight- to-five, or two to one, lay your money on the sun, until you crash, what have you done, is there a better bet than love?

Love who you are, love what you do, love other people. It is the foundation of everything for you, not just this week, but every single day. But in this week of greatness, what is your bet? What cards do you hold and will you roll the dice to search out, to reach out and help more people with health insurance and supplements than you believed humanly possible. Show people just a little love, plant that seed and watch what blooms. When you give of yourself to others, everyone wins: the client, the company, you and those closest to you, because what you give comes back to you so many times over and in ways you can’t even imagine, today and tomorrow.

What you are is what you bring you bring, you have to cry before you sing…

And you will. At some point during this push week you are going to fail. There will be someone who doesn’t want to talk to you, maybe many who don’t, maybe someone who doesn’t buy from you, maybe someone who cancels that appointment right before you arrive. Maybe someone who never does the verification call, or doesn’t qualify. Maybe, maybe, maybe. It’s all about taking chances, because if you don’t then what?  If you don’t take the chance, nothing will happen, of that you can be sure. Failure is simply success deferred. Always ask what’s next, who is next, how can I help? When you do that others can see exactly what you bring… HOPE.

Chances lost are HOPE’s torn out pages….

Wow. Think of that one again –  HOPE’s torn-out pages. If you don’t take the chance, if you don’t make the chance, others will lose and so will you. But not you, not today, you don’t focus on losing, you focus on winning, winning the day, winning with an opportunity to serve and to better the lives of those you meet. To leave someone better than you found them. Then the page you have just written in the book of their lives and of yours is in perfect synergy. Then it is HOPE defined.

Chances are the fascination. Chances won’t escape from me. Chances are only what we make them.  And all I need…

It’s all you need. It’s all your clients need. Just a chance. Don’t let yours escape you. Recognize this is your chance to shine, seize the moment, grab a hand, lend a heart, show yourself and the company you are building just what you are made of. Fight through every obstacle. If you have doubts, if you have problems, if you have fears, if you want things to get better… guess what you are not alone, I mean what do you think your clients feel? We are all part of this human experience together. Why not take the chance to make this life all you want it to be? Start by taking the chance to do so right now, by touching a life, making it better and in turn transforming your own.

These are chances worth taking.

Have an unbelievable week.

Until next time, thanks for taking the time.

WOW!!! It Takes 2 is a must read for anyone who has known someone diagnosed with cancer or other life threatening disease. This is the real story of a family lead by an incredible woman, Debbie Brodinsky, who took radical steps to beat the breast cancer beast. The story is told by her husband, Mark Brodinsky, through journal entries he kept starting with diagnosis through one year cancer free. This author's unique ability to pour his heart out onto the page draws you in from the beginning and holds you until the very end.

Thanks to Mark and Debbie Brodinsky for this gift...I have a new perspective on what it means to be a breast cancer survivor. You are a hero, Debbie Brodinsky!

This book gives a heartfelt, in depth description of what it is like to go through breast cancer with the one you love. It is beautifully written and I felt as though I was living it with them! I highly recommend this book!

In It Takes 2, Mark Brodinsky windows us into his world where his wife, the cancer patient, is not the only victim. Part journal, part roadmap, It Takes 2 goes to the real humanity of facing the mortality of one's better half. Mark's candid perspective, love, and fierce intention resonate with hope in a story which is about much more than cancer. Mark himself is perhaps the most heroic character for the way he appreciates this life and so many of us in it...as he says, "thanks for caring."

It Takes Two: A Spouse's Story by Mark Brodinsky should be read by every person who is experiencing serious illness or injury or by a loved one of someone who is experiencing either of those situations. The book is an eloquent testament to the power of love and the healing energy derived from the belief that things will get better. There is not one word of "poor me" from the author or his wife who suffered breast cancer and the radical surgery she elected to have to beat the cancer. Rather, the book is a celebration of the courage displayed by them both in seeing it through.

The book also encourages readers to speak and write down their true feelings and be validated in them. John Mackovic writing in the Palm Springs, CA Desert Sun on November 2, 2013 quoted author and artist Doe Zantamata who said, " To be happy, you don't have to do anything new. You just have to remember how to believe again...Believe everything good is possible. Believe in your dreams. Believe in people. Believe in love. But most of all...believe in yourself." The author, his wife, their family and extended family and friends never stopped believing in his wife's recovery, and I think, in themselves. Read this book and believe.

This book is a must read for anyone with a family member with breast cancer. It takes you through the spouse's perspective from diagnosis to recovery. Mark journaled his wife's journey and put all of his emotions out there. It is beautifully written and inspiring to anyone going through breast cancer. Thank you, Mark for sharing Debbie's story.

A friend recommended this book. This was a great perspective of a man standing beside his partner and passing along to the reader fear, hope, useful information and a broader story than his own. I loved Vinnie the tattoo artist. This is a great book. Thanks for sharing, Mark and "thanks for caring"

This book is a must read. What sets this book apart from other books about surviving breast cancer is that it is told by the husband and his point of view, not from the survivor. At times sad, at times poignant but even through the worst of it you can always feel the love he has for his wife, her strength and the strength of their extended family and friends. The posts that are included from their friends and family lets you really into the heart and strength of the family. I would recommend this book to anyone who is currently going through this, whether you are the person or the caregiver. I also recommend this book to anyone who has a friend that has been or is currently going through their fight now. It was an eye opener for me.

There isn't a shortage of books about breast cancer, but most are written from the perspective of the person who has battled cancer or a physician or other expert. What an enlightening experience to read about breast cancer from a husband and caregiver's perspective! Not only does the author give us insight into his wife's experience and emotions, but he openly shares and reveals his love, compassion, support, and, yes, sometimes anger at the disease as he stands by his wife's side during their journey to beat the beast. Your story may not be the same, but I guarantee if you have a loved one battling cancer, you won't go wrong reading It Takes 2.

From the moment I opened this book I never stopped reading. Mark invites the reader to come along on this journey that his family went through. I cried, laughed and learned so much. This book will give comfort and knowledge to those going through similar situations. Most importantly, Mark and his family never give up. They get knocked down and get right back up. They fought cancer together and with their strength, determination and will to prevail... They do!

Breaking Good: It’s Just About… Life

There is nothing wrong with supporting a good cause. In fact, we all need a cause. We’re all here because of something, to do something, to share something, the great challenge is to figure out what that something is. Without a cause, without a purpose we are going somewhere, we just don’t know where — […]
