“O” what a feeling!
It wasn’t enough that Michael Phelps earned another dramatic victory in the pool and collected his 20th gold medal last night… he also gave everyone in our Charm City something to be proud of. A shout-out from the most decorated Olympic athlete in history… to his boys from Baltimore!!
How cool is it that on a grand stage, with so much of the world watching, to have your town and your baseball team get a little worldwide recognition… and share the “inside story” that only those who live here can truly appreciate. Phelps made his post-swim interview something special for everyone who is proud to call Baltimore home and knows what it’s like to be an Orioles fan.
As Phelps stood on the podium following his gold medal win in the 200m butterfly and while the National Anthem was wrapping up, he suddenly started laughing…and laughing hard. It’s that same laugh you have when there’s an inside joke between you and your buddies, except this one was happening for all the world to see! Only problem was all we could see was Phelps, the camera stayed squarely focused on the podium so you were left to wonder why the King of the Pool was cracking up.
We didn’t know it at the time, but it was a little of Charm City and Baltimore’s long-time sports tradition finding its way to South America:
Now that was a cool pool moment!!
A little Baltimore Orioles magic sprinkled over the festivities at the Olympics. A true championship moment for Charm City and the “inside feeling” of being proud to call Baltimore home.
Thanks to the Boys from Baltimore and to Phelps for making history, again!
Until next time thanks for taking the time,
