Yea, I know Valentine’s Day is still a few weeks away, but back to back I heard a couple of songs over the weekend that struck me, made me think and inspired me to write it down.
First there was this line from a Brad Paisley song, Mona Lisa, “I feel like the frame that gets to hold the Mona Lisa”.
My man came up with a great line cause that pretty much says it all when I look at my own bride and the way I feel about how she fills in the colors of my world. A frame can be handsome to look at, but it really holds little meaning, until you find the right picture to fill in the middle. It’s just a shell until you fit in just the right painting and life becomes more than maybe you ever imagined it could, or maybe you simply didn’t know what it could be, until you found that perfect work of art to hold inside.
Then there’s singer-songwriter Johnny Legend, who performed on the Grammy Awards. I’m sitting on the sofa next to my daughter Emily watching and wondering who is this guy? Nine-time Grammy winner? Suddenly I hear a shout down from upstairs. It’s my other daughter Sophie, who is supposed to be doing her homework, but is apparently listening in and suddenly exclaims, “I love this song”. Sophie who is working on her own singing talent usually knows a good tune. She is right, and on the heels of hearing Mona Lisa on the same day, it’s a coincidence too good to pass up.
‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I’m winning
‘Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you
Yea, Valentine’s Day is still weeks away. But it’s just one day. So if you feel the gratitude every day why not show it and share it.
I love you Debbie.
Until next time, thanks for taking the time.
